Frequently Asked Questions About AC Maintenance Services
Air Conditioning Maintenance ABC7 Morning Blend
At AC Warehouse, we often hear from clients who have questions about what to expect during their routine AC maintenance calls. Here’s a look at the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions we receive.
How Long Should I Allocate for an AC Maintenance Call?
New customers are often surprised when we tell them that we plan to be at their home least 45-minutes to an hour. While some companies are in and out in 15 or 20 minutes, it takes longer than that to perform a proper maintenance call. We take the time to do things thoroughly and may provide services that aren’t included in other company’s maintenance calls.
Will You Need to Come Inside My Home?
While each appointment is a little bit different, generally, our service calls require us to do work both outside and inside the home. For example, in addition to doing maintenance on the unit itself, we’ll also check your indoor air filters and make sure your thermostat is working as it should.
What Do You Do During a Maintenance Call?
When our service technicians come out for an AC maintenance call, the first thing we do is explain exactly what services we’ll be performing that day. One of the most important things we do every time is to clean out your drain lines. Since your AC system typically removes five to seven gallons of water a day, it’s critical to make sure they don’t back up. Without a safety switch, a drain line backup could lead to significant property damage.
We’ll also check your refrigerant levels and make sure your system is properly pressurized. Problems with your refrigerant can lead to higher system run times, higher utility bills, increased wear and tear, more breakdowns, and a shorter life expectancy for your system. Our technician will also provide a full system inspection, including checking all of the electrical components for safety.
If we find a potential problem during your maintenance call, we’ll make sure to let you know while we’re there, so you can decide how you want to handle it.
How Often Do I Need AC Maintenance?
In Florida, an AC system’s runtime is pretty intense. Not only do systems run virtually nonstop during the hottest summer months, but they run in the wintertime too. For this reason, we strongly recommend having your AC unit maintained at least twice a year.
Often, we’re able to catch potential problems during a maintenance call and fix them proactively before they become a major issue. This can save you a substantial amount of money and help you avoid the inconvenience of needing an emergency repair.
