Goodman Air Conditioners is an independent company owned by industrial giant Daikin. Goodman manufactures commercial grade air conditioning units as well as specialty cooling products for both residential and commercial use. The company was founded in 1975, but did not actually enter the HVAC market until 1982 when it obtained Janitrol.
Goodman is the global brand for products sold under not only the Goodman name but also Amana and QuietFlex products.
